How to Use a Pocket Watch

Since the wristwatch was introduced into our society, the pocket watch has become a kind of curiosity or rarity. At some point a symbol of wealth, the pocket watch is now a symbol of class. Whether it's gold or silver, simple or engraved, a pocket watch should be worn with its chain and its leontine, something that is simpler than it sounds, if one knows how.

Instructions
Put the chain to the clock and the chain to the chain. Leontine is simply a decoration that hangs on the chain and can be anything you want. Common choices include punched coins, small medals, and other trinkets.

Decide whether to wear your pocket watch necklace in a vest (the preferred choice), or in your trouser pockets. Depending on which pocket you will wear the watch, you may need a different connection to the end of the chain. A vest chain has a small bar that is put through a buttonhole, while the pocket chain has a ring or a clip that attaches to the belt or to one of the belt hooks. For best results, it would be nice to have both kinds of chains on your hand so that you can always use your watch.

To use the watch in a pocket on a vest, place the bar at the end of the chain through the hole of the center button. Once the vest is buttoned, holding the watch in place, keep your watch in the pocket opposite your most commonly used hand. You should be able to look at the time when you sign your name.

To wear the watch in the pocket of a trouser, attach the ring or clip that is on the belt in the pocket opposite your most commonly used hand. Make sure the chain stays loose enough so that the lanterns can be seen, but not too loose to be hooked while you are walking.

Examine how the chain and leonines hang and tighten if necessary. Hold the chain and use it to pull your watch, or just to make sure it does not hit anything. Replace your watch, and then continue with your normal activities.
